Abstract

In this study, the effects of sheep manure (S1 and S2) and biofertilizer (B1) applications used as organic fertilizers on plant height, number of branches, fresh and dry weight values and crude protein and antioxidant activities of sater (Satureja hortensis L.) plant were determined. In this study carried out under climate chamber conditions, two different sheep manure doses (10 t ha-1 and 20 t ha-1), biofertilizer and their interactions applied to sater plants were evaluated in terms of yield and some quality characteristics. As a result of the study, it was observed that plant height values varied between 28.11-41.00 cm, branch number values varied between 11.67-19.56 number plant-1, and S1B1 application stood out in terms of plant height and branch number values. As a result of the study, it was determined that fresh and dry weight values varied between 1.56-5.54 and 0.12-0.28 g plant-1, respectively. Chemical fertilizer, S1 (10 t ha-1 sheep manure) and S2 (20 t ha-1 sheep manure) applications stood out in terms of both fresh and dry weight values. The crude protein, DPPH, FRAP, total phenolic and total flavonoid matter contents were determined as 4.60-16.96%, 8.14-72.72%, 69.40-94.53 mg QE g-1, 99.05-109.27 mg TE g-1 and 5.11-43.33 mg GAE g-1, respectively. In the principal component analysis carried out to determine the relationship between the examined characteristics, the first two components revealed high variations. The obtained results show that sheep manure and biofertilizer applications have positive effects on increasing the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of sater plants, therefore it is thought that these fertilizers can be evaluated as an alternative method for the healthy production of sater plants.
