Abstract

This research was carried out in Middle Black Sea Transitional Zone Agricultural Research Institute (OKTAM) trial vineyard in Tokat Kazova condition in 2020. The aim of the study was the influence of foliar and bunch applications of Methyl Jasmonate (MeJA) and riboflavin (Rbf, vitamin B2) to on grape quality. The study was carried out on Prima, Lival and Michele Palieri table grape varieties maturing in different periods. In the study, while MeJA was applied to vines at a dose of 1 mM (200 g ha-1), Rbf treatment was applied at a dose of 0.5 mM (100 g ha-1). In the control treatment, only distilled water was applied to the vines. The foliar and bunch treatments of MeJA and Rbf were applied to the grapevines twice, at veraison and post-veraison. In the harvested grapes, cluster weight, berry weight, soluble solid content, total acidity, pH, total phenolic content (µg GAE/g) and antioxidant activity (µmol TE/g) were determined. In addition, CIELab, hue angle, chroma (ΔC) value and pigment content and color index (CIRG) values were determined as berry color value. MeJA applications reduced the berry size. Rbf application gave higher berry size results than MeJA application. The largest berries were found in ‘Michele Palieri’ and the smallest in ‘Prima’ grape cultivars. In terms of cluster color homogeneity, MeJA and Rbf applications gave better results in ‘Michele Palieri’ grape cultivar than the control. Applications did not cause any difference in berry skin L* a* b* values. According to the OIV and CIRG scales, ‘Prima’ and ‘Lival’ grape cultivars were in the red-dark purple color category, and ‘Michele Palieri’ grape cultivar was in the blue-black color category. MeJA and Rbf applications had a positive effect on SÇKM (%) in must only in ‘Prima’ grape cultivar, but applications were not effective in other varieties. The applications increased the total phenolic compounds, and the highest value was given by the application of MeJA in ‘Lival’ grape cultivar. Based on the results obtained using varieties with different maturation characteristics in the study, it is thought that detailed studies on the use of plant growth regulators on a variety basis are necessary.
