This study aims to comparatively analyze the position of leading exporting countries in global olive oil trade using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index and the unit value indicator. In this context, the olive oil export performance of Spain, Italy, Portugal, Tunisia, Greece, and Türkiye over the 2000-2024 period is examined. The analysis is based on olive oil exports under HS code 1509. The RCA index is employed to assess the relative specialization and competitive advantage of countries in olive oil exports, while the unit value indicator is used to identify price/segment positioning. The findings reveal that the selected countries display different competitive structures in olive oil exports. Tunisia demonstrates a strong level of specialization with very high RCA values, whereas Spain stands out with a high and relatively stable competitive advantage. Portugal exhibits a markedly stronger specialization profile, particularly toward the end of the period, while Italy and Greece are distinguished by higher unit value levels. Türkiye is found to lag behind the other countries in both RCA and unit value. In conclusion, the combined use of RCA and unit value has allowed for a more comprehensive assessment of the specialization and price/segment positions of olive oil exporting countries.
