Sordaria macrospora (Auersw. 1866) has long been used as a model microorganism for studying sexual development mechanisms. Although research on its pathogenic role in plants is limited, its recent association with leaf tip blight and shoot dieback symptoms in olive (Olea europaea L.) trees suggests that this fungus should be carefully considered from a plant health perspective. In this study, the in vitro efficacy of various fungicide combinations with different modes of action and the biological control agent Trichoderma harzianum was evaluated against the S. macrospora K1 isolate obtained from olive trees. Experiments were conducted using dual culture assays on potato dextrose agar (PDA), and fungicides were applied at their recommended label rates. Inhibition rates were calculated based on measurements of mycelial growth. Among the tested treatments, Azoxystrobin + Cyproconazole, Prochloraz + Trifloxystrobin + Cyproconazole, and Boscalid + Pyraclostrobin achieved 100% inhibition of mycelial growth. Azoxystrobin + Difenoconazole and Pyraclostrobin + Fluxapyroxad inhibited mycelial growth by 95.88% and 54.24%, respectively. In dual culture assays, Trichoderma harzianum inhibited mycelial growth by 62.12%. In contrast, Phosphorous Acid + Ametoctradin and Metrafenone showed no inhibitory effect (0.00%) on the mycelial growth of S. macrospora. Overall, Azoxystrobin + Cyproconazole, Prochloraz + Trifloxystrobin + Cyproconazole, Boscalid + Pyraclostrobin, and Azoxystrobin + Difenoconazole provided high levels of mycelial growth inhibition, ranging from 95.88% to 100%, while T. harzianum demonstrated a supportive biological control potential with an inhibition rate of 62.12%. These findings may contribute to future disease management studies targeting S. macrospora isolates associated with olive leaf tip blight. This study contributes to the existing literature by jointly evaluating the in vitro antifungal efficacy of different fungicide combinations and T. harzianum against S. macrospora.
