Abstract

In recent years, agriculture has gained more and more importance with the effect of climate change and the global economic crisis. In order to increase agricultural production and ensure its sustainability, it is necessary to ensure the efficiency and productivity of production factors. One of the most important factors in ensuring this is irrigation. Irrigation is one of the most important factors that provides the continuity and profitability of agricultural production. It provides high efficiency by increasing the efficiency of other production factors, so it has an important share in increasing the production value. The increase in the production value in agriculture depends on the increase in the irrigated areas and the product taken from the unit area. Therefore, production value loss occurs when dry farming or fallow application is made or left empty in the areas opened to irrigation. The aim of this study is to reveal the above-mentioned production value losses for the lands in the duty area of DSI 25th Regional Directorate. The material of the study consists of the reports titled "Evaluation Report of Irrigation Facilities Operated and Transferred by DSI" and "Crop Count Results of Irrigation and Swamp Improvement Facilities Constructed and Opened to Operation by DSI" for the years 2015-2020. According to the results, there is a total loss of 707,048,805 $ in production value due to dry farming, emptying and fallow in the lands that can be irrigated in the six years.
