The aim of this study is to investigate the presence of pesticide residues and toxic metals in tomato and cucumber samples grown in Tekirdağ (Türkiye) and Mamuşa (Kosova). In this study, 21 tomato and 17 cucumber samples obtained from Tekirdağ and Mamuşa were analyzed for pesticide residues and elemental composition. Active substances analyzed in this study were abamectin, acetamiprid, carbendazim, chlorpyrifos methyl, imidacloprid, metaflumizone, propineb and indoxacarb. Additionally, 26 elements were examined in tomato and cucumber samples. None of the samples found as containing pesticide residues over maximum residue limits (MRL). Acetamiprid was detected in 16 samples of tomatoes (0.25-267 µg kg-1) and in 10 samples of cucumbers (0.30-202 µg.kg-1). Imidacloprid was found only in 5 samples of tomatoes (4.38-8.83 µg kg-1). Indoxocarb was detected in one sample of tomatoes (21.80 µg.kg-1). Propineb was found in all cucumber samples collected from Mamuşa (187-1090 µg kg-1). Regarding toxic metal analysis results, tin was detected in 9 samples of tomatoes (10.3-12.8 µg kg-1) and in 2 samples of cucumbers (10.9-13.4 µg kg-1). Nickel was found in only one sample each of tomatoes (14.7 µg kg-1) and cucumbers (11.3 µg kg-1) collected from Tekirdağ. Aluminum was detected in 3 cucumber samples analyzed (10.0-36.1 µg kg-1). The absence of lead, cadmium, and mercury in any of the samples is a positive outcome. It can be concluded that the residues detected in the examined samples are not at levels that would pose a risk to human health. Nonetheless, the presence of examples showing the potential of water, fertilizers, and pesticides used in agricultural production to leave residues in the final product should encourage producers to continue practicing good agricultural practices.
